A Little Dose of June

What do you consider a person who antagonizes an animal?  A cruel, mean, heartless individual?  What are your thoughts of one who gets involved in another's business?  Do you think them cruel, mean and heartless?  King Solomon very well did as he compared  "animal abuse" to "meddling".  In Proverbs 26:11, Solomon warns, "He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own, Is like one who takes a dog by the ears."

Bottom line:  Stay out of other people's business; it's none of yours.

As I leave my house I carefully stop and pick the brightest and sweetest rose in the bunch, on my heavily blooming rosebush.  Thorns and all, I pick it right quick as my ride is waiting. With eager anticipation, I hop into the car looking for my grandson's smiling face.  He never disappoints me, is always happy to see me, never too busy to stop what he's doing to greet me with a huge baby hug and a sweet sloppy kiss.  I too don't miss an opportunity to pick him a rose, sing him a song, even if I don’t  hit a single note, show him the sunsets, and chase him with my fiercest Grandmommy voice saying, "I’m gonna get cha!" I do take the time to smell the roses, not only with Cabe, but with others, as well. You see, we are eternal beings, without promise of tomorrow (here on Earth that is). So, make time to love on those around you.  You may not have tomorrow, but my dear, you DO have “right here and now”!  Stop and smell the roses!

Yesterday, while reading some words of wisdom in Proverbs, I ran across seven abominations to the Lord. These included: prideful attitude, liar, murderer, person who schemes, one who is always looking for trouble, one who tells lies about another, and a troublemaker. Interestingly, I didn't see adultery, lust, pornography, swearing, stealing, alcoholism, or drug addictions. What in the world? Could God not be aware of how minor it is to gossip versus looking at pornography? Could He not realize how harmless it is tell personal details about someone in the name of a "prayer request"? Could He not even comprehend that repeating gossip to another person is much less harmful than drinking too much? Or even that my lies to "cover" myself or protect myself are nowhere near that of sexual promiscuity? Doesn't He understand that there are just some sins much worse than others?  And my little bits of lies, gossip, and edited prayer requests are far less destructive than that of a cussing, drinking, sexually active person?

Unfortunately, I have personally witnessed and have been guilty of this judgmental thinking myself. As I read the things my dear Father hates, I realized that He hates the wicked heart in which something is done. He hates all sin, don't get me wrong, but according to Proverbs 6:16-19, He especially hates the sin that is devised out of a conniving heart.

Have you committed one of these 7 abominations recently and not given much thought to it? Justification is not allowed!

I discovered a memorable acronym while reading Matthew 7:7. Jesus said, "Ask, seek and knock and you will receive; find and it will be opened to you." The acronym for ask, seek and knock is ASK!  Don't give up; keep on ASKing!  Remember, nothing is too insurmountable nor trivial for the Lord.

I actually found an advantage to menopause this morning. I quickly passed by a slow rolling school bus filled with children, obviously missing the "stop" sign the bus driver had just erected. Almost immediately, I was motioned over by what appeared to be an angry police officer for not heeding the bus stop sign. When the irate officer approached my car, I broke down in uncontrollable tears; not even being able to talk. Fortunately I didn't receive a ticket, for the tears scared the poor man to death.

MORAL: In everything give thanks to the Lord - even for your fluctuating hormones.

As we sang and worshipped the Lord last Sunday at our country church, I knew the Lord was breaking down walls of captivity all around. As He did for Joshua at Jericho and for King Jehoshaphat, the Lord set ambushes against their enemies while His people were singing praises!

Our "song" releases God's power over our enemies!

In the Phantom of the Opera, the Phantom says to Christine, his love, "sing for me…sing, my angel of music! Sing for me!" And Junebug reiterates, "sing for Him… sing!"

Learn who you are in Christ for when you know who you are, you can no longer be manipulated or controlled by people; nor the devil!!! Psst… want to find out who you are in Jesus Christ and what He thinks about you? Read the Bible every day. You will be amazed at how unconditionally you are loved.

"Adversity is preparation for greatness," ( quoted from Andy Andrews, The Traveler's Gift). When you find yourself asking, "Why me?", instead ask yourself, "Why NOT me?" A tough challenge quite possibly is your stepping stone to success! Embrace it.

While having coffee with a girlfriend, she casually said, "June, God's been speaking to me through songs; he sings them to me. I know you find this strange but He does!" I quickly replied, "I know He does for I just read Zephaniah 3 this morning and it said, "He sings and rejoices over us!" How great a God we serve who humbles Himself enough to sing and rejoice over me and you! We are loved and adored by HIM!

While driving North on I-65 in Alabama as I was heading back home from Florida, I thought of my favorite Aunt. I decided right then and there that I'd call her and do some witnessing as I made my long jaunt home. As we talked, the conversation moved to the Bible and my beloved Aunt mentioned how she didn't get much out of reading it; she said she didn't understand it and found it boring. Junebug didn't like to hear the words boring, so I began telling her in my own words and in a very animated manner several of my favorite the Bible stories.  As I progressed from Joseph to King David my speed increased along with my vivacious Bible story telling. And then it happened - blue lights, the dreaded siren - the Alabama Hwy Patrol caught me traveling at a high rate of speed. Quickly and embarrassingly, I made an excuse to hang up almost instantly, leaving my Aunt puzzled on the other end of that conversation. I thought if I explained to the dear patrolman that I was doing a very good deed, witnessing to a family member and my speed simply got away from me, that he would understand and forgive the offense. No, it didn't happen that way. He ever so kindly issued me a 100 plus dollar speeding ticket and said, "God bless you dear." I found myself thanking him for the ticket and SLOWLY driving away...thinking, the moral to this story is to never preach and drive.
