Little Doses of June

A Little Dose of June

Last Thanksgiving, our family and friends stood together holding hands, heads bowed, eyes closed, and amidst many tears, each spoke a word of thanks and joyous praise to our Father. We all felt the presence of the Holy Spirit come upon us renewing each in a miraculous way! Lips filled with praise, wield prodigious power! Praise and all Glory be to our FATHER!

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he," (Prov23:7). What have you been thinking about for the last week? According to Proverbs, that is who you are! Scary? Happy where your thoughts are? I am a little of both; however, I know from Proverbs 16:3, "If I commit my works to the Lord, He will establish my thoughts!"

I just recently heard New York Times best selling author, Andy Andrews (The Travelers Gift) speak at a local church in Destin, Florida. I came away with a simple and reflective truth..."do something". Now that sounds basic, but it's profound in this sense; you are important and what you do is important to the world, so don't miss the opportunity to "do something". With or without your awareness, you are making a difference somewhere…somehow.

Time with the LORD on my back porch overlooking His beautiful unblemished canvas of the gulf coast bay, blue herons, feathered skies, monarch butterflies, and most important, His Word...no excuses, no justifications, just time with HIM! I am blessed!

"A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger," (Prov.15:1). My Mama used to say, "June, you better watch your mouth girl!" So with that...are you watching yours? Every time I read that Proverb, I inconspicuously seem to put my "tail between my legs." Yikes!

When our baby, Sinclair, was 15 years old and obtained her learners permit, she took me by surprise with an interesting and quite humorous question. As we exited the driver's license bureau, I tossed her the car keys, congratulated her and said, "It's all yours baby." She then looked at me and asked with all seriousness, "Mom am I supposed to sit in your lap and drive?" I have to admit, I got a good belly laugh at her innocent expense and also realized that she was STILL our baby. But as I looked back on her question, I thought of God and how HE so desires that we crawl up in HIS lap by reading HIS Word and talking to HIM through prayer. HE would love for us to ask with all seriousness that very question of HIM everyday; God can I sit in your lap as I drive through this life of mine?

While reading my Bible, I read where Jesus called the religious leaders, liars (John 8:55). I'm also aware that He called them hypocrites, and brood of vipers, too. He says, the world hates Him (John 7:7), because He testifies that the world is evil. My point? Jesus wasn't politically correct. He wasn't tolerant. He didn't compromise the truth. As a matter of fact, He stood for the truth in all things. Do we stand boldly proclaiming the TRUTH or passively stay silent, attempting to fit in and "keep the peace?" WWJD?

Son/Daughter of Christ: "…you are important, everything you do is important. every time you forgive, the universe changes; every time you reach out and touch a heart or a life, the world changes; with every kindness and service, seen or unseen, God's purposes are accomplished and nothing will ever be the same again." Have you ever been quiet when the people around you were speaking untruths or slanderous comments about another? Even the rulers of Jerusalem believed Jesus was the son of God, but kept this to themselves for fear of the Pharisee's kicking them out of the Temple, where they regularly worshipped. These men of stature, the rulers of that time, desired the accolades of man, over that of God.(John 12:42&43) Sounds downright ridiculous to me, but, haven't we all been guilty of this at some point in our own lives?

Listen to me closely. Be careful not to "shut-up" when you should "speak-up". By being silent you are taking a stand. The rulers during Jesus' time of ministry made a decision to harmonize rather than vocalize! No matter their justification, they didn't fool Jesus.

You WILL be put in a position of decision; what you do will reflect who you are. Will you please God or man?
